Skedge
July 13th, 2008
Skedge is a lightweight but powerful note-taking application aimed at students from grades 5-12+. It’s designed to allow for notes to be taken for any subject the student desires without having to deal with the hassle of organization. Skedge automatically organizes the text files internally, so you never have to see a load/save dialog - all you need to do is click a subject and date and you’re ready to go. That’s right, no annoying folder hierarchies to deal with!
Skedge’s window has a large area for taking notes in class, and another smaller one above it for writing down homework. This means that you don’t need to carry around a clunky notebook to write down homework anymore. The window is size adjustable, so you can make it larger if you wish. If you run out of space, it’ll let you scroll.
Skedge’s interface is easy to use, and formatting your text with colors, different sizes, and fonts is a breeze. The toolbar on the top allows easy access to the common font dialog, along with printing, exporting notes, and database backup capabilities. The Drawer on the left has some shortcuts to the formatting tools, as well as the note loader.
Skedge should be available soon for $10 USD, and we’ll have a trial version up for grabs soon so you can try it before buying it, and report any bugs (we’re pretty sure we’ve ironed those out by now).
